Families in Transition-New Horizons & OutFITters Thrift Stores
End of Year Appeal OutFITters Volunteer with us  Employment Opportunities

The Greatest Need Is Now. We Need Your Help.

The fact is, the number of people who require our services is growing and our clients' situations are more complex, which all lead to higher costs to continue our programming and we need your help to do so. So far, this year:

  • Our New Horizons shelter services increased by 42%.
  • Our Willows Substance Use Treatment Center and Recovery Housing added two Transitional Living Programs (a type of recovery housing) that has served 72 women and 61 men.
  • Our New Horizons Soup Kitchen had a 20% increase in attendance.
  • Our Family Place Resource Center and Shelter has had a 25% increase in individuals at the shelter.

“They have given me the chance to rebuild my life. Families in Transition-New Horizons is not about giving handouts, it’s about giving people the basic needs they can use to pick themselves up.” -  Richard, FIT-NH Participant.

Let us introduce you to Richard, a current Families in Transition – New Horizons (FIT-NH) participant who has had a full life. In fact, at one point, he had a career as a machinist and was happily engaged. That is, until he became homeless.

Richard attributes his homelessness to a few unfortunate life events. Primarily, he was faced with several physical and mental ailments. He did his best to continue his career, but eventually, Richard’s health declined and he was unable to work. When he had no place else to go, Richard turned to our New Horizons shelter for a safe place to stay. He began to work with a case manager whom he said was “extremely supportive” with helping him to navigate his next steps, including applying for Families in Transition Housing. A few months later, Richard was accepted into one of our communal living, long-term, housing programs.

When you support Families in Transition-New Horizons, you take part in providing someone the means to turn their life around. Your support can help us provide a home to others like Richard.
